Officially: MFM Ice Hockey 2022 canceled!

The International Ice Hockey Federation announced the early end of the World Championship 2022 among youth teams.

The decision was made after positive tests for coronavirus were detected among the players of the national teams of the United States, the Czech Republic and Russia. According to the Regulations, the teams were counted as defeats, but soon the IIHF decided to cancel the entire tournament.

– We are obliged to do everything possible to create the necessary conditions for the teams for the tournament. Unfortunately, our efforts were not enough. The continued spread of the coronavirus and the Omicron variant forced us to adjust security protocols as soon as we arrived in Canada to try to avoid any potential spread of covid. Now we need to focus on getting all players and team personnel safely home, ”said IIHF President Luc Tardiff.
