Cercle beats Anderlecht and breaks into European competition

Last year’s Belgian Pro League outsiders Cercle Bruges are in contention for at least a place in the Conference League play-offs this season. The Green-Blacks won their third consecutive victory in the Belgian Championship, quite unexpectedly beating Anderlecht on its field with a score of 2:0 in -th round. The hosts in the middle of the first half were in the minority after the removal of Wesley Hoodt.

The defeat left the team of Vincent Kompany in fourth place in the table with an asset of 29 points. Cercle moved up to seventh with 24 points.
